How to Pay for Beauty School
Pursuing a career in cosmetology, barbering, or spa services can be an exciting step toward a creative and rewarding future. But one of the most common questions we hear at Elite Cosmetology, Barber & Spa Academy is:
“How am I going to pay for beauty school?”
The good news? You may not have to do it alone.
We are pleased to offer Federal Student Aid to eligible students, and there are several financial options that can help make your education more affordable and manageable. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to pay for beauty school, how the FAFSA process works, and exactly what steps to take to get started.
Understanding the Investment in Your Future
Beauty school is more than tuition — it’s an investment in:
- Professional training
- Hands-on experience
- Industry certification
- Career readiness
- Long-term earning potential
Like any investment in your future, planning ahead financially is important. Fortunately, federal aid programs are designed to help students access education without paying everything upfront.
Step 1: Complete the FAFSA
The very first step in determining your financial aid eligibility is completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
You can complete the FAFSA at:
You must complete all required documentation before you can enroll as a financial aid student in any program at Elite Cosmetology, Barber & Spa Academy.
What Is the FAFSA?
The FAFSA is the federal form used to determine your eligibility for:
- Federal Pell Grants
- Federal Direct Loans
- Other federal aid programs
It evaluates your financial situation and determines how much assistance you may qualify for.
And here’s the most important part:
The FAFSA is FREE.
Never pay anyone to complete it for you.
Step 2: Create Your FSA ID
Before you can complete your FAFSA, you must create an FSA ID.
An FSA ID acts as:
- Your electronic signature
- Your login for federal financial aid
- Your long-term access to federal student aid records
Important Reminders:
- Do NOT let someone else create your FSA ID for you.
- Write down your username and password.
- Keep this information safe — you’ll use it throughout your academic career and beyond.
If you are a dependent student, your parent or guardian will also need to create their own FSA ID.
Step 3: Complete the Required FAFSA Forms
Once logged in at studentaid.gov with your FSA ID:
- Click the FAFSA Form tab.
- Choose Complete the FAFSA Form.
- Select which FAFSA you would like to complete.
You Will Need to Complete:
25/26 FAFSA Form
For this form, you will need:
- Your 2023 tax information
- Your parents’ 2023 tax information (if you are a dependent student)
26/27 FAFSA Form
For this form, you will need:
- Your 2024 tax information
- Your parents’ 2024 tax information (if you are a dependent student)
Be sure to have this information available before you begin.
VERY IMPORTANT:
When filling out your FAFSA form, make sure you select: Elite Cosmetology, Barber & Spa Academy as the school you want your FAFSA sent to. If you do not select our school, we will not be able to access your information.
What Happens After You Submit the FAFSA?
After you submit your FAFSA:
- It typically takes 3–5 days for our financial aid office to receive it in our system.
- Once received, we will review your information.
- We may contact you if additional documentation is needed.
- We will help you understand what aid you qualify for.
Remember:
You must complete all required documentation before enrolling as a financial aid student.
What Types of Federal Aid Might Be Available?
While eligibility varies by student, federal aid may include:
Federal Pell Grants
- Based on financial need
- Do NOT have to be repaid
Federal Direct Loans
- Must be repaid
- Often offer lower interest rates than private loans
- Flexible repayment options
Your financial aid package will depend on your individual FAFSA results.
Other Ways to Pay for Beauty School
In addition to federal student aid, many students combine funding sources.
Possible Options May Include:
- Personal savings
- Family support
- Payment plans (if available)
- Scholarships
- Employer sponsorship
- Workforce assistance programs
If you’re unsure what combination works best for you, our team can help walk you through your options.
Common Financial Aid Questions
“What if I think I won’t qualify?”
Complete the FAFSA anyway.
Many students are surprised to learn they qualify for aid. The only way to know for sure is to apply.
“What if I’ve never done this before?”
That’s completely normal.
Financial aid forms can feel overwhelming, especially if this is your first time applying for college. That’s why we’re here to help.
“How long does the process take?”
- FAFSA submission: About 30–60 minutes
- Processing time: 3–5 days
- Additional paperwork (if required): Varies by student
The sooner you complete your FAFSA, the sooner we can move forward with your enrollment.
Why Starting Early Matters
Financial aid is a process — not a one-day event.
Starting early allows time for:
- Document corrections

Waiting until the last minute can delay your start date.
If beauty school is part of your future, begin your FAFSA as soon as possible.
